Format conversion

WEBM to MP3

WEBM is the web's native video container, and converting it to MP3 is the conversion you need whenever a downloader hands you a .webm instead of the .mp3 you wanted. VideoSplit does it in-browser without any upload step.

WEBM audio is Opus or Vorbis — both very efficient lossy formats. Converting them to MP3 is a second lossy pass; at 320 kbps the loss is effectively inaudible, but for the cleanest possible result, go WEBM-to-WAV and encode MP3 later.

Step-by-step

  1. Open VideoSplit.io. Drop the .webm file.
  2. Pick MP3. Click the MP3 tag.
  3. Download. MP3 saves with the WEBM's filename.

Quality and bitrate guidance

Opus at 128 kbps already sounds transparent to most listeners; MP3 at 320 kbps encoding a 128 kbps Opus source does not reveal what is not there, but it also does not further degrade perceptible quality. If you are chasing maximum fidelity, use WAV as an intermediate.
